New Announcements / Upcoming Events

We are going OUT to make Jesus known at the Uptown Sparkles event THIS Friday, December 5th!
As Christians, we are called to be witnesses to Jesus. This means living our lives in a way that reflects him, AND also opening our mouths and sharing the good news of what he has done for us. Without the Gospel being proclaimed, nobody gets saved! So, Gospel sharing and making Jesus known are core to the mission of the Church, and we're wanting to ramp up our efforts in this area.
You are invited, encouraged and challenged to be a part of this effort on December 5th. We're going to go uptown to the Uptown Sparkles event, have our antennas up about who the Holy Spirit might be directing us to, and then we'll talk to them, pray for them, share the Gospel with them, or whatever else seems good in the situation. Come and be a part of the revival God wants to bring to Saint John!
We will meet IN FRONT OF THE SERVICE NEW BRUNSWICK BUILDING in King's Square at 5:30 PM, and go out from there!

The next men's breakfast is happening this Saturday, December 6th at the Garnett Settlement Christian Church at 8:30 AM. Contact Mark Ketch to RSVP for this breakfast as soon as possible!

Our church serves the evening meal at the Outflow men's shelter on the first Sunday of every month. That means that we are ON for this coming Sunday, December 7th!
We are always looking for more volunteers, so if you are interested, speak to Chris Chambers. Your name will be put into a list of people who can be called upon to serve at these meals. It is a great and worthwhile ministry, with many different jobs to do - consider putting your name forward!

Our Church Christmas Dinner is quickly coming up on Saturday, December 13th! This will be our 4th year of doing this, and it is always a great time!
Here are some important things you need to know!
- There are two seatings - one at 4 PM and one at 6:30 PM. You are encouraged to invite people to come with you!
- You need a TICKET in order to attend the dinner, as there is limited capacity. Tickets are free, and can be picked up in the sanctuary on Sundays, or by emailing office@theharbourcc.ca
- One more thing about tickets - don't get one (either for yourself or for people you want to invite) until you know the person can actually go to the dinner. In other words, invite them first, and if they say yes, THEN get a ticket!
- We are going to need LOTS of volunteer help to pull these dinners off. There are many jobs to be done, and there is a sign-up sheet in the sanctuary where you can put your name down for something. *Note - there is now another job to sign up for on the signup sheet (food prep on Friday the 12th).
Note - it doesn't HAVE to be done this way, but we recommend you consider going to one dinner as a participant and then serving at the other.

We are having a Christmas Eve service this year! It is happening on Wednesday, December 24th at 6:00 PM at our church building. It will be a great evening of worship, special music, fellowship, family, and more!
You probably already know this, but it is worth noting that Christmas tends to be a time when more unchurched people are open to exploring Jesus and the faith. So, be sure to INVITE your friends and family to celebrate with us! The Gospel WILL be preached at this service - be in prayer for hearts and minds to be open!
Ongoing Announcements / Ministries

One of the central ministries in our church are our discipling groups. Groups of various sizes and makeups meet at different times all through the week, for the purpose of spurring each other on to get closer to Jesus.
Discipling groups are powerful and can serve as great vehicles through which we grow closer to God and each other. They are a GREAT way to take further steps in your walk with the Lord!
For more information on joining a group, contact Richard Jones or Nancy Jones.

Monday Morning Coffee runs every Monday (except on some holidays; we'll keep you posted) from 8-10 AM in our side building. It is a great way to kick off the week! Great company and conversation, community, relationships...and of course free coffee and breakfast sandwiches!
Contact Mark Ketch for more info.

Our youth ministry is a great way for kids in middle school and high school to learn, grow in their faith, and experience community together!
Youth group generally happens every Monday night, but there are some moving parts to the schedule. Some Monday evenings are reserved just for youth group and typically run from 6:30-8:30 PM at the church building. But, every other Monday is also 242 night, where people of all ages come together at the church building, and the youth break off into their own group partway through the evening.
The best practice is to get connected to the youth leaders, who will keep everybody updated about the schedule and what's going on when. To get started, contact Mark Ketch for more info!

We are raising funds to help pay to repave our church's parking lot! It is in pretty rough shape (because it gets used a lot!), and it's time to work together to get it fixed!
Here are some important details about this project:
- This is going to be an expensive project! The church has budgeted for $24,000 from our savings to go toward this project. We are asking for an additional $24,000 to be raised - $48,000 is basically the 'bare minimum' amount, which will help us do some patchwork. But if we get more, we'll be able to do more! So, we'd love it if you would ask God if and how he would like you to contribute to this need!
- We don't know exactly when the work on the driveway will get done. We have a few other things that need to get done first, and we're also bound by seasonal limitations, the availability of the paving company, and how much money we raise. BUT, we are committed to getting this project done, so it's going to happen at some point, at the earliest opportunity!
- As a rule, we do not allow designated giving to the church (aka, you can't specify money to be spent in a certain area of ministry; the board of directors has discretion on where and how funds are spent). BUT, for tracking purposes only (because it's cool to see how God puts on our hearts to give as needs come up!), we are allowing people to specify contributions that are given with the parking lot in mind. Simply note "special projects" on whatever means of giving you typically use. All of the money is still going into the general fund, will be spent at the Board's discretion, and you will not get a separate/special tax receipt specifically for driveway contributions - but we'd love to just keep a running tally of what God leads people to give toward this!
- Also - just putting this out there - contributions toward this project should not 'cut into' your tithe. This is an 'over-and-above' kind of deal!
Thank you in advance for your generosity toward this effort! It may not seem like a very glamorous project, but this will help us serve our church family and our community even better for years to come!

Everyone is welcome to come together Sundays at 9:30 AM to pray over our worship gatherings! It's very simple - we pray over the worship gathering that is about to happen. We pray for the presence of God, the movement of the Holy Spirit, for hearts to be open, for the church to be built up, and much more. It's a great opportunity to dig deep in prayer in a meaningful way!
This pre-service prayer takes place every Sunday at 9:30 AM in the 2nd classroom on the right in the church basement.

Part of our ongoing worship to God is the giving of our tithes and offerings.
How to give:
- Via cash or cheque in our offering box on Sunday mornings
- Via e-transfer (send to offering@theharbourcc.ca)
If you have questions about any of these announcements, but don't know who to contact about them, feel free to email office@theharbourcc.ca and we'll get you connected to the right person!
