WHO WE ARE
Thanks for checking out our church! We want you to know a little bit about us, so you'll know what to expect when you connect with us.
We are a community made up of people of all ages, life stages, and backgrounds.
We are a community of people who have found true forgiveness, freedom and fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
We are a community of people who are all works in progress in him.
We're all about Jesus at The Harbour!
THE WHY
We exist to glorify God – plain and simple. Our ultimate goal in everything we do as a church is that Jesus would be exalted, made known, and honoured in our church and our community.
THE WHAT
Our goal is for each of us to be walking with Jesus and to be helping others do the same. This is in line with what Jesus describes as the Greatest Commandment, which is to love God and other people.
THE HOW
FOLLOWING JESUS
Intentionally pursuing a relationship with Jesus - beyond Sunday morning
Living our lives as a pouring out of praise to Jesus
Making it a priority to submit to Jesus' Lordship and leadership
LOVING OTHERS
Intentionally showing love to others, inside and outside the church
Making it a priority to build strong relationships with others, as such relationships are opportunities for sharing the Gospel and growing together.
Caring about the well-being of our community and stepping up to serve our city
PURSUING GROWTH
Doing our part to see the growth of God's Kingdom
Pursuing spiritual growth: to increasingly know God's Word and do God's Word
Pursuing growth in our God-given potential, talents, resources and spiritual gifts
Through consistent prayer, serving in our community, building relationships, and teaching the Gospel, our goal is to see as many people as possible experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ,
and for them to be able to go into their world and help others do the same!
FOR GREATER SAINT JOHN
We have a physical location that serves as our 'home base', but the church is more than just a building.
Our home base is located in East Saint John, but we care deeply about the entire Greater Saint John area.
We are not confined to one particular space in one particular location, waiting for people to come to us; our heart is to GO into the contexts God has placed each of us in and to be effective Kingdom workers.
This means we do not simply 'go' to church - we ARE the church - and church should 'happen' every day of the week, all across the city, with all kinds of people, in all kinds of forms!
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our core message is the Gospel - the good news about Jesus, as seen in the Bible, which is our final authority in matters of life and doctrine:
- There is one God, by whom and for whom all things exist
- We have separated ourselves from God by our sin
- God's solution for our sin is his Son Jesus Christ
- Jesus died on a cross to pay for our sin and rose from the grave victorious over death
- We are saved by believing what Jesus has done for us, repenting of our sin and surrendering our lives to him.
- We are called to follow Jesus with our whole lives
- If we're saved, we will spend eternity with Jesus
Our Pastor
Braden Jones
Braden has been on staff at The Harbour since 2015 and has been Lead Pastor since 2020. He has a particular passion for teaching God's Word and leading worship. Braden has a Master's degree in Pastoral Theology from Kingswood University.
Braden lives in the Saint John area with his wife Lori. He is an avid sports fan - hockey, football, baseball, tennis and golf to name a few - and enjoys writing/playing music and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
